As a single guy, picking out a couch wasn’t easy. With so many options—styles, price points, colors—it quickly became overwhelming. After researching countless sectional sofas, I finally decided on a Lovesac. In this article, I’ll walk you through my entire purchasing journey and share a comprehensive review based on nearly two years of ownership (including an upgrade I made along the way). Hopefully, this review helps you decide whether a Lovesac sectional is worth it for you.

What is Lovesac?

What is Lovesac

While Lovesac has actually been around for a while, it still feels like a relatively new player in the furniture space—mainly because its Sactionals line has only really taken off in the past five years or so. The company was founded by Shawn Nelson in 1998, and they originally gained attention by reinventing the classic bean bag chair, making it modern, oversized, and stylish enough for adults to proudly keep in their homes. Since then, Lovesac has evolved significantly and gone all-in on its modular Sactionals. While they still offer a wide range of bean bag-style chairs (called Sacs), the Sactional has clearly become their flagship product. That said, they continue to launch new and innovative products, and I believe this is a brand that will eventually become a part of your entire home.

Design & Style

One of the best things about Lovesac is the wide range of customizations available. You can choose from standard-depth seats, deep seats, and even reclining options. They also offer storage seats that lift up to provide extra space—perfect for blankets or clutter. I personally use mine to store my Normatec boots and Hyperice gun, which keeps them out of sight but easily accessible.

On the sides, you can pick between standard arms, angled sides, or classic roll arms, giving you structural flexibility. But the biggest highlight is the modular setup. You can rearrange the seats and sides in countless ways to fit your space and lifestyle—and make adjustments anytime in the future.

As for fabrics and colors, Lovesac offers over 200 options, including leather, velvet, chenille, and more. I personally went with the classic tan combed chenille, using standard arms on the sides and angled sides on the back. It looks modern, neutral, and fits just about any aesthetic.

Comfort

From a comfort standpoint, Lovesac is tough to beat. I went with the standard foam seat inserts and find it to be one of the most comfortable couches I’ve ever sat on. Guests constantly compliment how cozy it is.

They do offer deep-seat options, which are ideal if you’re taller. At 6 feet tall, the standard depth works just fine for me. There’s also the Lovesoft insert, which is supposed to be even softer than the standard foam, but after trying it in-store, I didn’t think it was necessary—standard foam is more than comfortable.

Installation

Lovesac Installation

Installing the Lovesac had its ups and downs. One thing I really appreciated was the ease of delivery—I had all the pieces shipped to my apartment and was able to bring them up myself using a hotel cart from the lobby. Everything came in manageable boxes, and I was able to assemble it solo.

That said, I’d highly recommend having a second person help. Putting it together alone is doable but much more difficult, especially when attaching the covers to the sides and fitting the pieces into the shoes (the metal locking system).

Once you get the hang of how the parts connect, it’s fairly intuitive—especially with Lovesac’s helpful installation videos.

Pricing & Value

Yes, Lovesac isn’t cheap—but it’s not outrageous either when compared to other premium or designer furniture brands. I spent about $4,000 on mine, and I believe basic setups start around $2,000.

To me, the value is unmatched. This is a couch you can own for life. When I moved into a bigger place with my girlfriend, I didn’t need a whole new couch. I simply ordered two more seats and an extra side to convert my L-shaped setup into a U-shape. The flexibility is a game-changer.

If we ever want to change the color, we can just order new covers. If the dog has an accident? The covers are machine washable—or replaceable. It’s basically future-proof furniture, and I haven’t seen anything else like it.

Shipping & Delivery

Shipping was seamless. After placing my order, the packages arrived within a week. There are definitely a lot of boxes, but none of them were too heavy to handle. It’s much easier than trying to maneuver a traditional couch—just stack them on a dolly and roll them in.

Lovesac Sactionals FAQs

How durable is Lovesac furniture?

I’ve had my Sactional for over two years, and there’s been little to no wear and tear. I’d say it’s very durable.

Does Lovesac get softer over time?

Yes, but in a good way. The cushions soften slightly with use, becoming more comfortable—not saggy.

How do you install a Lovesac Sactional?

It’s relatively easy, especially with two people. Lovesac also provides great instructional videos to walk you through it.

How expensive is Lovesac?

Entry-level sactionals start around $2,000. My original configuration was about $4,000. To find a deal, check out our Lovesac discount codes page where we will keep you posted with any sales or coupons we come across.

Is Lovesac made in the USA?

Lovesac is a U.S.-born company that was originally founded and manufactured in Utah, and their headquarters are still based in the United States. From what I’ve researched, some of their materials are sourced internationally, but compared to many other furniture brands, Lovesac stands out as one of the more American-made and American-manufactured options.

How do you wash Lovesac Sactionals?

All covers are machine washable—just unzip, toss them in the wash, and they come out looking like new.

Conclusion: Is Lovesac Worth It?

If you haven’t figured it out yet, let me make it clear—Lovesac Sactionals are absolutely worth the purchase. They’re not only incredibly comfortable and endlessly customizable, but they’re also machine washable and built to last a lifetime. It’s a great value.

Lovesac is also pushing the envelope with innovations like StealthTech, which I just got—it’s an amazing surround sound system built right into the couch, with wireless charging built into the armrests. Truly next-level.

On top of that, the company has an inspiring founding story and is a great example of the American dream in action.
