If you’re like me and spend all day (often into the night) working behind a desk, then having a solid office chair is an absolute must. There’s nothing more draining than trying to focus while sitting in an uncomfortable chair that doesn’t support your body. Trust me, I’ve been there.

The first office chair I bought was a cheap one off Wayfair, right after I moved into my apartment. What is Uplift Desk?

To kick things off, let’s quickly talk about the brand. If you’re not familiar with Uplift Desk, they’re best known for their standing desks and tables, but they also offer seating, storage, accessories, and more. They’ve been around since 2002, so they’re definitely not new to the game.

One thing that stands out is their 15-year warranty, which they claim is the best in the business. I haven’t seen anything better, so I’ll take their word for it.

Oh—and if it’s good enough for Fortune 500 companies like Dell, Disney, JP Morgan, and Microsoft, it’s probably good enough for the average Joe (like you and me).

First Impressions & Setup

Like I mentioned earlier, setup is usually a pain for me, especially when it comes to chairs (but honestly, anything that requires assembly). But one of the things I loved right away about this chair was how easy it was to put together.

With other chairs, you usually have to attach the arms while holding the backrest in place, which feels like an impossible solo task without risking breaking something. Not this one.

Setup was super simple. You screw the wheels onto the base, and the top portion basically comes pre-assembled, just pop it onto the base and you’re good to go. Easiest chair setup I’ve ever done.

Comfort

One of the most important aspects of an office chair is, without a doubt, comfort…and that’s where this chair really delivers. I can sit in it all day thanks to its thoughtful design.

When I’m sitting upright, it provides the perfect amount of support to help me stay focused and productive when doing deep work or having Zoom meetings. But when I’m on calls, not typing, or just listening in, I love reclining it all the way back—it genuinely feels like I’m in a recliner. Sometimes I’ll lock it somewhere in between for a nice middle ground that’s comfortable yet still easy to type in.

The headrest is clutch—when you’re leaned back, you need proper neck support, and this one comes through. The seat is made of mesh, which adds a nice bit of flex so you’re not stuck sitting on something stiff or overly firm. There’s not a ton of padding, but the mesh has just enough give to keep you comfortable all day.

Adjustability & Features

Adjustability plays a big role in comfort, and this chair is built to be customized. It has three main levers that let you dial in your setup:

• Lift Lever: Located on the side, this adjusts the chair up and down. I’m about 6 feet tall and actually find myself using it at the lowest setting.
• Slide Lever: This lets you slide the seat forward or backward. I hadn’t really played with this feature until now (doing this review made me curious). Turns out the default position has worked just fine for me, but this feature adjusts how close the seat is to the back of your knees—something worth testing for your own comfort. I might circle back with an update after giving it more time.
• Tilt Lever: I mentioned this earlier, but it’s worth repeating. This is the one I’ve used the most—I love reclining back and relaxing in this chair. It’s super comfortable on the back and makes a big difference during long workdays.

The armrests are also adjustable, they go up and down to match your height and pivot in three directions (straight, inward, and outward) so you can position them just right depending on how you type or what you’re doing. Definitely a nice touch.

As for optional features, I went with the upgraded glide wheels, and I’m glad I did. They make the chair roll incredibly smoothly. I also added the headrest, which I highly recommend if you like to lean back and relax it adds that extra level of support.

Pricing & Value

I’ve looked at a lot of ergonomic office chairs and executive-style home office chairs, and the pricing is all over the place. High-end models can easily cost thousands of dollars, while cheaper options in the $200 range usually look cheap—and based on my experience, they feel just as bad. I’ve bought the budget chairs before, and they were terrible.

The Intuition Executive Chair comes in at a baseline price of $649, which I think is really fair for what you get. The headrest is included for free, which is a nice bonus. I also opted for the blade caster wheels, which were an extra $39—not necessary, but a great upgrade if you want smoother rolling.

In terms of overall value, I’d say this chair hits the sweet spot. It’s high quality, fits a home office well, and won’t completely break the bank. I still need to spend more time with it to give a full durability review, but based on my experience so far, it feels solid. You can usually tell when a chair is flimsy or poorly made—this one isn’t.

Another plus? You don’t need anyone to help assemble it, so you save money there, too.

For an ergonomic office chair with back support, adjustable arms, and premium build quality, the value is definitely there.

This thing shipped super fast. I ordered it on a Friday and had it by Tuesday. Shipping in three business days is impressive for furniture. I’ve waited weeks for other office chairs in the past.

It arrived in a sturdy brown cardboard box that was undamaged and easy enough to maneuver. Honestly, the whole process was a breeze. No complaints here!

What are the downsides to this chair?

As you’ve probably gathered by now, this has been a pretty rave review. That said, nothing’s perfect—so here’s my one real gripe:

The chair isn’t exactly the most aesthetically pleasing option out there. Personally, I don’t mind because I care way more about comfort and performance than looks. But my girlfriend, who helped design my office, definitely isn’t a fan of the style. She thinks it clashes with the vibe.

That said… she’s not the one sitting in it.

So in the age-old battle of fashion vs. function? Chalk up a win for function on this one.

Is the Uplift Intuition Chair good for tall people?

I’m 6 feet tall and around 185 lbs, and the chair fits me perfectly—no issues with comfort, posture, or support. So if your definition of “tall” falls around 6’0″, you’re definitely in the clear.

I’d imagine anyone up to about 6’3″ or 6’4″ would be just fine too. While I haven’t had any of my really tall friends test it yet, the chair feels like it has enough adjustability and seat depth to accommodate taller users comfortably.

I think the bigger issue would actually be the height of your desk—not the chair—so make sure that’s factored in for ideal ergonomics.

Is Uplift Desk made in the USA?

While I’m not exactly sure where the chair itself is manufactured, Uplift Desk is definitely an American company. They’re based in Austin, Texas, and have showrooms in both Austin and Chicago. So even if the parts or assembly happen overseas (which is common in the industry), you’re still supporting a U.S.-based brand with a strong reputation and great customer service.

If buying from an American company matters to you, Uplift is absolutely worth supporting.

Before I got this chair, I would slowly slouch more and more throughout the day, until I was basically sitting like a human question mark. I’d end up sliding down in my seat with my neck pressed awkwardly against the backrest. It wrecked my posture and was starting to take a serious toll on my body.

Still, I hesitated to drop the money on a quality ergonomic chair.

I’m so glad I finally made an upgrade. This chair has completely changed the way I sit. The built-in lumbar support and smooth reclining features have made a noticeable difference, not just in my posture, but in how I feel overall.

For $649, this chair is 100% worth the investment. It’s a lot better than spending thousands later on a chiropractor or physical therapy.
