I’ve been using Native body wash for a while now. It’s one of the few brands I actually keep rebuying. It smells great, people have told me they like how I smell after using it (always a win), and the ingredients are pretty clean, which I care about because my skin is sensitive. Is it the cheapest thing in the shower aisle? No. But it’s not crazy expensive either, and you get a big bottle.
So I grabbed five scents on Amazon and ranked them with my fiancée Tara. She’s got a way better nose than me and she’s pickier, so she’s my scent expert. Then I kept using all five for four-plus months to see if our first impressions held up.
Quick take: Native is really good. Probably one of the best body washes out there, honestly. Not every scent’s a home run though, and one of them surprised me.

How We Tested Native Body Wash
I ordered all five on June 25, 2026. When they showed up, Tara and I did a smell test on camera and gave each one a score out of 10. That score was mostly about scent.
Then I actually used them. I’ve been rotating all five in the shower since, and we switched every hand soap bottle in the house to Native too. I wash my hands constantly because of my dog, so if this stuff dried out skin, I’d know.
The thing I didn’t expect? They smell better in the shower than they do out of the bottle. Once you get a lather going the scent opens up and gets a lot stronger. And Cedarwood & Bergamot totally changed my mind, but I’ll get to that.
#1 Native Cashmere & Rain (9.5/10)
I used this one the most. Finished the whole bottle, actually. It’s hard to describe, but the name kind of nails it. Cashmere and rain. Some ocean, some clean cotton, like sheets fresh out of the dryer. On camera I said it was crisp with a little apple in there, and Tara said it smells like you just walked into Bath & Body Works.
Native says it’s watery, woodsy notes with subtle florals. I’d agree with that. It’s fresh and clean, not sweet.
It won because nothing else in the lineup smells like it, and it’s the bottle I kept grabbing. The classics are great. Sometimes you just want to smell a little different.
#2 Native Eucalyptus & Mint (9/10)
This one smells exactly like it says on the label. Lots of eucalyptus, a little mint. It’s like walking into a nice spa. Tara called it crisp and refreshing and liked that the mint doesn’t take over.
Eucalyptus & Mint and Sea Salt & Cedar both got a 9. I gave Eucalyptus the edge because it’s Tara’s favorite, and she loves that fresh, spa kind of smell. If you want something a bit more manly, go with #3.
#3 Native Sea Salt & Cedar (9/10)
The classic. You can’t really go wrong here. It was one of my top picks back when I tested and ranked 12 men’s body washes, and it still holds up. Light and clean, with a little bit of a manly edge, but not over the top. It smells like the soap at a nice restaurant when you go wash your hands. If you’ve never tried Native, start here.
And if I’m being totally honest, I like this one a little more than Eucalyptus & Mint. Tara won that tiebreaker, not me.
#4 Native Santal & Leather (8/10)
Most masculine of the bunch. It’s musky and deep, but it’s not a heavy leather smell, it’s actually pretty subtle. It’s also not as strong as the others, and that’s really why it ended up 4th. For every day I like something cleaner, and the top three are all fresher.
Get this one if you’d rather smell warm and rugged than fresh.
#5 Native Cedarwood & Bergamot (7/10, but underrated)
This came in last on our first smell test, and I’m leaving it there because that’s honestly what we thought at the time. Tara liked it the least. But I think it’s underrated. It’s a big citrus smell with some cedarwood under it, and it’s got cologne vibes. Kind of reminded me of Polo Red. (I’m not a scent snob though, so take that with a grain of salt.)
A few months in, it smells stronger in the shower and way better than it did out of the bottle. Tara and I both think it deserves more than a 7 now. I’d buy it again for sure.
How Native Body Wash Performs
The lather is great. It goes on smooth, almost silky, and it’s never felt harsh. My skin’s sensitive and I’m washing my hands all day, and my hands still feel soft. Not dried out, not cracked.
The scent doesn’t hang around all day, and I’m fine with that. You’ll smell it getting out of the shower and for a good while after. But it fades before it starts fighting with your deodorant or cologne, which is what I want from body wash.
The bottle looks clean and simple. The cap is wide, it closes tight, and it’s easy to get the body wash out.
Native Body Wash Ingredients: Is It Really Sulfate Free?
The bottle says sulfate free, paraben free, dye free and phthalate free. The ingredient list is short, too. Native’s site shows 10 ingredients for the classic body wash: water, cocamidopropyl betaine, sodium chloride, sodium cocoyl isethionate, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, glycerin, fragrance, sodium salicylate, sodium benzoate and citric acid. I’m not a chemist so I can’t break it all down for you, but it feels gentle and it’s never bothered my skin.
Native Body Wash Price and Value: Is It Worth the Money?
All five cost me $46.91 on Amazon, so about $9.38 a bottle. Cashmere & Rain ($7.29) and Sea Salt & Cedar ($7.69) were on sale. The other three were around $10 to $11 each for an 18 oz bottle. On nativecos.com the 18 oz is $11. Target and Walmart carry it too, and they’ve got a 36 oz pump bottle for roughly $15 to $18.
| Where / size | Price | Price per oz |
|---|---|---|
| What I paid: 5 bottles, 18 oz each (Amazon, June 2026) | $46.91 total ($9.38 each) | About $0.52 |
| 18 oz bottle, nativecos.com | $11.00 | About $0.61 |
| 18 oz bottle, Amazon (Nov. 2026, with sales) | About $8.50 to $11 | About $0.47 to $0.61 |
| 36 oz pump bottle, Target / Walmart | About $15 to $18 | About $0.42 to $0.50 |
I’d put it in the middle price-wise. Not cheap, not expensive, and you get a lot for the money. If you already know your scent, the 36 oz pump is the best deal per ounce.
Native vs. Other Men’s Body Washes
When I ranked 12 men’s body washes in 2024, Native Sea Salt & Cedar came in a close second. Here’s how it stacked up. Prices are from that test.
| Body wash | Smell (out of 10) | Price per oz | Overall score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Duke Cannon Bay Rum | 9.5 | $0.51 | 8.25 |
| Native Sea Salt & Cedar | 9 | $0.50 | 8 |
| Old Spice Swagger | 7.2 | $0.27 | 8 |
| Method Men Sea + Surf | 7 | $0.44 | 7 |
| Cremo Silver Water & Birch | 7 | $0.62 | 6 |
| Dove Men Eucalyptus + Cedar Oil | 6 | $0.45 | 5.5 |
Old Spice is cheaper per ounce, and Duke Cannon’s Bay Rum edged it out on smell. But Native was the best mix of scent, gentleness and price, and this five-scent test only made me like the brand more.

Who Should Buy Native Body Wash?
Honestly, almost anybody. If you want your shower stuff to smell better without spending a ton, Native is a great pick. It’s popular for a reason.
The one guy I’d steer away is someone on a really tight budget who just wants the cheapest bottle. It smells so good that I use a lot of it, so the bottles go faster than you’d think.
Is Native Body Wash Worth It? Final Verdict
Yep. It’s a really good body wash, probably one of the best you can get. I liked all five scents, and I like having a few in rotation so I can switch it up.
If you only buy one:
- Want to be different? Get Cashmere & Rain. It’s my #1.
- Want citrus? Get Cedarwood & Bergamot.
- Want the classic everyone has? Get Sea Salt & Cedar.
