Hey guys, back again with another meal delivery service review. This is my second one in the series, so I’m hoping to improve each time while also keeping them consistent, since at the end I’m going to do a roundup and rank them all. If you’re looking at Fuel Meals but aren’t sure if it’s for you, then you’re in the right place. I tried them out and I’m giving you the truth and pure facts only (and a lot of opinion lol) on whether you should buy. So let’s get into it.

Fuel Meals Unboxing Video

What is Fuel Meals?

Fuel Meals is a prepared meal delivery service that delivers fresh, ready-to-eat meals directly to your door. So this isn’t like a meal kit where they send raw ingredients and cooking instructions. These are heat-and-eat, ready-to-go meals. Super convenient and no hassle.

In my opinion, Fuel Meals specifically caters more to the performance-athlete type of audience. They don’t have a ton of vegan or specialty options from what I’ve seen. Not a problem for me since I’m more in that audience. If you’re looking for good-tasting meals with simple ingredients and great macros, Fuel Meals is right up your alley.

The Ordering & Shipping Experience

I thought the ordering process was super simple and easy. Some of these other sites make it so complicated and won’t even show you the final checkout page until you give them your email and make you jump through a bunch of hoops. I hate that. Fuel Meals made it super easy. Just go on the site, explore the menu, pick what you want, and it’s a simple Shopify checkout experience like many standard online shops. Easy, love it.

Shipping-wise, pretty good too. I ordered on a Friday and it was at my door on Wednesday. I believe how it works is you have to order before that Monday, and everything ships on Mondays, so based on when you order is when you get it. The online ordering once you are a member was pretty easy too. You can log in and change your future shipments pretty easily.

Ranking The Meals I Tried

So to me, the only thing I really care about is taste. For me personally, I’m not on a strict calorie-counting program or anything like that. I just try to focus on eating real foods with minimally processed ingredients. That is pretty much the main thing I’m looking at. Appearance and texture do impact taste from a perception standpoint, so that factors in too. I try not to let it affect my judgment, but it does.

My Favorites

Chicken Fried Rice

While I thought they were all good, I think my favorite was the chicken fried rice. Pretty good. The sauce had a touch of sweetness but wasn’t too sweet. The chicken had a nice texture, not chewy and not dry. Filling, but not overly filling. Hit all the boxes, I thought.

Crispy Buffalo Chicken

Tied for first was the crispy buffalo chicken. I thought this was really good. The sauce was great, not too spicy but had a little kick. The chicken was tender and not dry at all.

I live in Chicago now, but I was in New Jersey for three years, and you just can’t find good cutlets in Chicago like I used to get in NJ. Fuel Meals is NJ based, so it makes sense they do a really nice cutlet.

The potatoes and broccoli were good too. Nice taste and consistency as well. Overall just a perfect meal for me since I’m a big buffalo chicken guy.

My Least Favorite

Bison Burger

The bison burger was my least favorite, but honestly the main reason was just the presentation kind of turned me off. I may have overcooked it because the cheese kind of turned into a soup. I did 2.5 minutes in the microwave, so you might want to go less or cook it a different way.

The taste was still good though. The cheese flavor was actually really good. The burger was just slightly gamey and a little less tender than I’m used to for a burger. I think it was my first time having bison, but overall still a good meal.

Is Fuel Meals Worth It?

Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend Fuel Meals. The convenience is clutch, the meals all tasted great, and they were packed with protein and filled me up. Overall, it was a great experience.

It’s also a good price. You can get 11 meals for $81.90 with our 40% off code, which comes out to about $7.45 per meal. Cheaper than Chipotle, healthier, more variety, and way more convenient.

Fuel Meals FAQs

Are Fuel Meals Fresh or Frozen?

Similar to most prepared meal services, Fuel Meals come fresh and vacuum sealed, ready to eat. Check out my unboxing video and pictures above to see what they look like. I kept a few in the fridge to eat right away and froze most of them so they would stay fresh longer. It’s easy to just take one out of the freezer and put it in the fridge the night before, and it’s ready for lunch or dinner the next day.

How much do Fuel Meals cost?

With our Fuel Meals discount code, you can get 10 meals plus a free meal bonus, so 11 meals total for 40% off. That comes out to about $7.45 per meal, which is honestly a steal in my opinion.

How do you cook Fuel Meals?

You can heat them on the stove or in the air fryer, but I chose to microwave them for convenience and to keep things consistent since I’m trying a bunch of prepared meal companies and ranking them. I did about 2.5 minutes in the microwave. For some of the meals with cheese, like the quesadilla or burgers, I would probably go a little less next time because the cheese got a bit too melted. The quesadilla tasted great, but it got a lower score just because it turned into kind of a sloppy mess from the microwave. I would cook that one a different way next time.

Does Fuel Meals use seed oils?

One thing I really liked about Fuel Meals was the super simple ingredient lists. Most of the meals had very minimal ingredients and almost no seed oils. I think only one meal had a seed oil, but I don’t remember which one.

Are Fuel Meals filling?

Yes, all of the meals were pretty filling. Great for lunch or dinner. With some other meal prep companies I’ve tried, I had to eat two meals at once. With these, I didn’t have to do that.
