If you’re considering trying out Factor Meals but aren’t sure yet, you’re in the right spot. I’ve been trying all the meal delivery services, reviewing what I like and dislike, and telling you whether I think it’s worth it. I’m particularly excited about this review because Factor is one of the biggest and most popular meal companies that has been around for a while. I remember trying them over 5 years ago and not being a huge fan, so I’m excited to give it another go here and share my feedback. Hope this helps you.

What is Factor Meals?

Factor Meals, formerly Factor 75, is a prepared meal delivery service that delivers fresh meals directly to your door. I’ve been seeing these guys all over the place, including TV commercials starring Notre Dame football head coach Marcus Freeman. The company was originally founded in 2013 and later acquired by HelloFresh in 2020.

The Ordering & Shipping Experience

The ordering experience on the site was a bit more robust than some of the other meal services I’ve tried so far. You start with your zip code, then you choose your goals and what type of meals you prefer. They give 8 options here, from “I eat everything” to low carb, keto, flexitarian, etc.

Next step is proteins you want excluded, like no pork, no fish, no shellfish. You can also exclude mushrooms or spicy foods. Finally, you select who you are feeding, whether it’s just you or more people, how many meals you want per day, and then how many days per week.

They give you recommendations, but then you can pick exactly how many meals you want from 6 to 36, so it is pretty flexible. The other thing they do well is having a lot of options for days to pick your first delivery, which I enjoyed, because many other services only ship on set days like Mondays, so it’s nice to have that flexibility.

The one thing I did not like is you have to pay for the meals before you can actually select the meals themselves, which I hated. I want to browse the menu and select the meals before I check out, which many other companies let you do. Wasn’t a fan of that.

Ranking The Meals I Tried

I kept the sole focus here on taste for the rankings to keep it consistent with the other reviews I’ve done so far. There were some things I didn’t like, such as the ingredients and things like that, but I didn’t include those in the rankings for this review. When I do my full roundup comparison of all the meal services, I do intend to take that into consideration.

My Favorites

Sweet Potato Grits and Sage Chicken

Honestly, this was very, very good for a meal prep. The chicken was plump and juicy, the sweet potato grits were outstanding and paired really well with the chicken, and the veggies were solid as well. Great stuff when it comes to taste. The only minor issue is that the ingredient label contains some preservatives and gums, which I know people are trying to avoid these days.

Golden Corn & Shrimp Risotto

So I kind of dropped the ball on this one, but it was still very good. I typically take the meals out of the freezer overnight, but this time I forgot. I took it out in the morning and had it for dinner, but it was still a bit frozen before I put it in the microwave. I did 2 minutes and it was almost perfect, but my first bite of the risotto was kind of cold. I mixed it up a bit and it all evened out, but note to self, gotta properly thaw next time.

That said, this tasted excellent. I love shrimp risotto and this hit right on the spot. I was also a fan of the vegetable medley. The only other gripe was that it wasn’t enough food. I had to make a protein shake after to fill me up.

My Least Favorite

African-Style Chicken Peanut Curry

I don’t like curry, so this one is not for me. That being said, for a curry dish, it wasn’t the worst I’ve ever had. Usually I can’t even eat curry, but I was able to get this down. Take the curry aspect out and it’s a pretty decent meal. The other thing to note is that it isn’t pure chicken. It’s boneless chicken breast with rib meat, which to me feels like lower quality, and it was kind of dry.

Are Factor Meals Worth It?

I was pretty blown away by Factor, to be honest. I thought the meals tasted fantastic, were super convenient, and pretty filling. If you want great tasting meals delivered to your door with no prep work, no cooking, and no dishes, you’re going to love Factor Meals.

And it’s a pretty good price. You can get 18 meals per week plus free breakfast for a year for around $160 by using our discount code TGL130BFAST. That’s about $9 per meal. So for the Chipotle boys out there, you’re saving money per meal and getting a ton of variety. Great deal.

Factor Meals FAQs

Are Factor Meals Fresh or Frozen?

Factor Meals come fresh, ready to eat, in a box with ice packs delivered right to your door. You can heat them up and eat them right away. I typically recommend throwing a few in the refrigerator and freezing the rest, then taking them out the night before you want to eat and sticking them in the fridge so they are ready for the next day.

How much do Factor Meals cost?

With our Factor Meals discount code, you can get them for less than $10 per meal plus free breakfast for 1 year. Pretty good pricing if you ask me.

How do you cook Factor Meals?

The easiest way to cook Factor Meals is simply by microwaving them. I did 2 minutes in the microwave, and as long as it is fully thawed, that should be perfect. You can also probably heat them in a pan, but I’m too lazy for that. It takes longer and creates more dishes.

Are Factor Meals filling?

Yes, Factor Meals were pretty filling, which was nice. Only one of the meals I tried didn’t leave me full.
